THIS MASSACRE THAT THE ZIONISTS AND THEIR WESTERN ALLIES WOULD LIKE TO FORGET!
Week of September 11 … endless propaganda of the American-Zionist axis for « September 11 » …
There is another significant anniversary this week, but it does not attract the same attention as the commemoration of September 11. 16-17 September 1982 Sabra and Shatila …
On the morning of Saturday, September 18, 1982, the journalists who entered the Palestinian refugee camps of Sabra and Shatila near Beirut, Lebanon had a horrible vision. Piles of bodies littered the dusty streets of the camps, mass graves had been hastily constructed and buildings had been bulldozed over corpses. The murdered were elderly men, women and children. A massacre had taken place. The death toll was estimated at thousands.
What had occurred there? What could cause this type of inhuman massacre? Who did this?
These were the questions that punctuated the silence of the morning after the killing has stopped. People still ask these questions today, more than two decades after the events.
To try to answer these questions, let us read again the story:
On 6 June 1982, the Israeli army – Tsahal, the so-called « defense force » – invaded Lebanon in what it described as « retaliation » for the attempted assassination of the Israeli Ambassador in London, Argov, on June 4 The invasion later called « Operation Peace for Galilee » has increased rapidly. On 18 June 1982, Israel had surrounded the armed forces of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in the western part of the Lebanese capital. A cease-fire, brokered by U.S. envoy Philip Habib, has resulted in the evacuation of the PLO from Beirut on 1 September 1982.
On 11 September 1982, the Israeli Defense Minister, Ariel Sharon, the architect of the invasion, announced that « 2,000 terrorists » had remained inside the Palestinian refugee camps around Beirut.
Wednesday, September 15, the day after the assassination of the leader of the Phalangist militia (fascist Lebanese) ally of the Israelis and Lebanese President-elect Bashir Gemayel, the Israeli army occupied West Beirut, « encircling and sealing off » the camps Sabra and Shatila, inhabited by Lebanese and Palestinian civilians. Israel has justified its initiative in West Beirut by the need to maintain order and stability after the assassination of Gemayel.
However, several days later, Ariel Sharon told the Knesset, the Israeli parliament: « Our entry into West Beirut was intended to make war against the infrastructure left by the terrorists. » The Israeli army then disarmed, insofar as it could, the anti-Israeli militias in West Beirut, when it left its arms to the Christian Phalangist militia in Beirut.
At noon on 15 September 1982, the refugee camps were completely surrounded by Israeli tanks and soldiers, who installed checkpoints at strategic locations and crossroads around the camps to monitor all entries and exits.
In the late afternoon and evening, the camps were bombed.
On Thursday, September 16, 1982 at noon, a unit of approximately 150 armed Phalangists (this is what Israel claims) came in the first camp.
During the next 40 hours, members of the Phalangist militia raped, killed and wounded a large number of unarmed civilians, most of whom were children, women and elderly people inside the encircled camps. The estimate of victims varies between 700 (official figure for Israelis) and 3500.
VICTIMS STILL WAITING FOR JUSTICE
Victims and survivors of the massacres have never had the right to a formal investigation into the tragedy, as the Kahan Commission of Israel had no legal mandate and had no judiciary.
This massacre is considered as the only bloody massacre of the Israeli terrorist army and claims participation of allies, but presumably it will not be the last. Especially after what we saw in the last Israeli war against Lebanon.
If the Americans prepare each year with agitation the anniversary of September 11, many people in the Shatila camp and its smaller neighbor, Sabra, fear the milestone that marks decades of suffering and futile investigation of Justice .
For the Palestinians, it will certainly be a reminder far away from the ceremonies in New York and Washington, where U.S. officials will demand again satisfaction from the whole world. Palestinian survivors of the massacres of 1982 will probably gather to hear speeches where their relatives were buried in mass graves: a dusty vacant lot marked by a temporary pathetic breeze-block monument.
But the world of Washington, Tel Aviv and NATO will not observe a minute of silence for the innocent victims of Sabra and Shatila, nor will make reports about the survivors and their miserable existence on the premises of this horrible crime.
Not the world, but we do! No, we « are not all Americans. » We are with our Palestinian, Lebanese, Iraqi, Libyan, Syrian brothers!
